Hi all,
I am writing here with a question. My mother sadly passed away and we (the family) have reasons to believe she owned some real estate in Croatia. However, we have no other details (complicated family situation). Is there an official government entity where we could apply for disclosing that information, of course with the appropriate documents supporting our claim.
Looking forward to hearing back from you!
Cheers, Abu

Hi Abu
Do you not have any idea at all of what part of Croatia ?
The Katastar offices here are not integrated, even though they are all accessible from a single website, so I know no national registry that you could enter a name into. You'd need to go through them individually and it could take years, even in somewhere like Istria.
Once you found it, you might still be disappointed, as,if there had been any great time lapse, plots may have been subdivided, as people died and their inheritors got bits of them, reducing an inheritance to a collection of small plots rather than fewer more viable plots. Also, plots identified as vineyards, olive groves or pasture may not look anything like that if no-one has worked them for fifty years. Nature soon takes over and self seeded bushes and trees can completely transform an area. Parts of an area we looked at for an American client were so overgrown that even the roads had disappeared and they did have the documentation that identified them.
The cost of researching it could easily exceed the value of the property. Sorry that I could not sound more positive.
