Since January 1st 2009 the Croatian government has moved to a new all purpose ID number for people and Croatian companies.
These are gradually being issued, although their implications are immediate. The courts, for example, will no longer register contracts without the OIB of your company. The MBS numbers and JMBG numbers are being phased out. If you have a company here, you will need to know your OIB.
Contact us if you need yours. We'll need either your company name, MB number and MBS number, or, for Croatian people, your JMBG
Kindest regards
Peter Ellis

Hi Peter. That is interesting and I have not heard anything about this yet. My MB number is 1710044 - how can I cross reference that to the new OIB number?

Hi Sorry I didn't pick up on this sooner. I hadn't realised that I hadn't checked in for several days. I normally check every day. Lots of people seem to be out looking for property at the moment. You can learn more on their website. Rather than going directly to www.oib.hr try Googling it and accepting the translate this page option. The site itself is only in Croatian but if you access it this way, Google translates most of it into English. If you go to 'What is my OIB?' on the left hand side you can fill in your details and it will tell you. HTH
