I am trying to establish the current rate of PDV, assuming a registered landlord, for rents on holiday lets without services. I read somewhere that this was being reduced from 22% to 10% in 2006.

I'd heard that, too, but I don't know when it kicks in.

No, but there have been very few posts recently. I'm afraid that I haven't had an opportunity to check for the answer to your question. I meant to ask our bookkeeper. Does your own Croatian bookkeeper not know or are you not renting through a Croatian company?

Hi Peter. Yes, I am renting through a Croatian company and my bookkeeper has told me that we have to pay 10% PDV. What she also tells me is some strange stories about having to pay PDV for the price an agent charges (above the price we get from the agent) - even if the agent is outside Croatia. So I was just trying to see if there were somebody here with a knowledge of the 2006 PDV rules, because I frankly do not believe that we have to pay for more than the money we actually get transferred into Croatia.

OK. This seems more likely. As an example of something similar, we buy advertising in the UK, but because our invoice address is outside the EU, it is zero rated. However, because we get the benefit here, we have to pay PDV on overseas advertising invoices. I was stunned to get charged PDV on them when the publications aren't even sold here, but when I thought about it, it was logical. You have to pay it one or the other, albeit not in both.
