Last month Croatia Week reported that Croatia were set to jump 5 places and be ranked the 4th best football team in the world when latest FIFA rankings were next released. FIFA today have confirmed that report when it officially released its latest rankings.
Igor Stimac’s side sit in 4th place with 1191 points, putting them just behind Argentina. England have dropped down into 7th place.
The new ranking will be Croatia’s best since the golden generation of 1998 under coach Miroslav Ciro Blazevic, who were ranked 3rd in
the world at the time after winning bronze at the FIFA World Cup in France.
FIFA Rankings as of 11 April:
1. Spain 1538
2. Germany 1428
3. Argentina 1292
4. CROATIA 1191
5. Portugal 1163
6. Columbia 1154
7. England 1135
8. Italy 1117
9. Netherlands 1093
10. Ecuador 1056
