A holiday in Croatia is set to become a more realistic option to millions of Americans, if plans for a new travel link between the country and the US come to fruition.
According to a report by Jutarnji List, cited by the Croatian Times, a major airline is in negotiations with Zagreb Airport about providing flights to Croatia from New York.
Tonci Peovic, director at the travel hub, refused to name the carrier in question, but admitted a direct route between the nations is a strong possibility in 2011.
In order to entice the airline into signing the deal, it is thought the airport will at first waive the landing fee that is usually applicable, the news source explained.
Such a deal could make it affordable for those in the Big Apple to trade some time with the Empire State Building and Central Park for a relaxing break in beautiful Istria or in Croatia's historic capital.
