Those who appreciate Istrian food but who would like something a bit special without breaking the bank will like the new restaurant just North of Porec in Tar, called Arkada. If you go past Tar and come in to Tar from the North, it is the first restaurant on the left hand side, with a large car park and sea view terrace.
It offers a welcome change from the usually predictable menus at many Istrian restaurants and the presentation is particularly good. We've followed this chef through several restaurants that he has worked for and now he has opened his own, in partnership with a friend and their wives.
The menu offers things like quails eggs, carpaccio of local scampi and pears in merlot, amongst other delicacies, that set it apart and make it well worth visiting if you enjoy good food.
You can either eat inside in the elegantly furnished dining rooms or outside on the terrace with good sea views.
The girls speak excellent English and manage front of house. Tel. 052 443 292 for reservations.
