Setting up companies here is rather more complicated than in the UK. When our legal department sets up companies here for clients there are various representations to be made to people like the Trade Court. Normally these are done on behalf of clients, using Special Powers of Attorney, so they have no need to come out all the time. We generally use the Zagreb court but have noticed that the Rijeka court, which used to be a bit quicker, has started to insist on founders being present. This is likely to slow things down and we hope the Zagreb court doesn't take the idea up. Rijeka are apparently arguing amongst themselves as to whether to continue with it. Things take long enough as it is!
