We are in the process of buying an apartment in Rovinj through the company route and are trying to locate a accountants to provide the necessary services for our company.
We have been quoted the following by one Accountancy firm recommended to us:
----------------
300,00 euro - for consultations during opening company, getting tax number and stamp
300,00 euro - for registration your loan-credit to the Croatian National Bank. 100,00 euro - for getting categarisation for your apartment (if you would like to rent your apartment) 100,00 € per month - for our accounting services (this price include balance sheet and everything else needed for conclusion of financial year) for whole year it will be 1.200 euros. On all this we charge 22% VAT( so annual fee would be 1.200 + 264= 1.464,00 euros) ------------------
Does anyone know whether these fees are OK / on a par with general fees charged? Certainly the 'retainer' fee of 1,464 EUROs per year seems excessive. We had been led to believe previously that this should be in the region of 500 EUROs.
And if anyone can recommend an accountants in Rovinj, or nearby, with more reasonable charges, please let us know.
Many thanks,
Paul Day

I think it is quite expensive - it shouldn't be more than 600 EUR a year. I'll try to find out more....

I pay 800 Euro per year for an accountant in Metkovic. That is for a company with four apartments.

The first two items are normally covered in the lawyer's work for setting up a company. I'm not sure why an accountant would be suggesting doing them, especially as he is in Rovinj and the National Bank is in Zagreb. Our legal department is based in Zagreb and they physically visit the National Bank, Statistical Office and Tax Office to do the registrations there. Doing them by post would take far longer. Incidentally, at the moment they report delays, as so many staff in these offices are on holiday. The offices are open, but often only a quarter of the usual staff are on duty.

Many thanks for the replies. It seems that we are indeed being overcharged and will try and find an alternative accountants in the Rovinj area. Please reply if you know of or can recommend an accountants in the Rovinj area. Is there any website, or other place where I can access a list of accountancy firms?
Many thanks once again.

Have set up a company (www.aplaceindalmatia.com) via a very good accountant based in Split.
Write to Jasminka Panjkovic at int-service@st.htnet.hr as she is very capable and knowledgeable. Just mention my name (Charles Southgate) to avoid confusion. N.B just in case anyone thinks otherwise, there is nothing in it for me.
