I've noticed a lot of derelict property in Croatia. Presumably some of it is for sale. How do I find out who owns it?

Hi
You could try asking locally in cafes. Many people, particularly younger ones, speak English. We also have some available with good papers.
However, a lot of derelict property in Croatia has ownership problems. Typically, when times were hard, many Croatians emigrated. They may have abandoned their houses, valuing them at little when there were no buyers. Often, too, in other cases, the ownership has been bequeathed to numerous offspring, not all of whom are available to agree to any sale, as they, too, may be living abroad.
If you see somewhere you like the look of, we can always do searches on it for you, but be aware that they may be abortive.

I saw something last week in Buzet that looked interesting but no-one seemed to know whose it was. How would I find out, please?
Thanks Gerry

The local commune could help, as they will have records for it. If by any chance the property you saw was at the far end of the town from the gate, next to a church, you might be in luck! We are selling that one. If you go to www.croatiapropertyservices.com/showproperty.asp?cmd=details&pid=122it will appear. We have old stone houses in most of the Tuscany style Croatian hill towns in Istria. Currently, we have ones at Motovun, Hum, Grosnjan, Beram and Buzet.
