Istria Leading the Way with Tourism Investment for 2014

Judging by recent announcements that over 400 million euros will be invested in both the private and public sector in 2014, Croatia is facing a real tourist investment " boom " this year. Millions of euros will go into improving capacity, infrastructure and the quality of service and offerings across the country...
According to data from the Ministry of Tourism, 110 million euros alone will be invested in hotels in 2014 in just four Dalmatian counties, twice as much as what was invested in 2013.
"Last year 230 million euros was invested in the tourism sector, while this year 410 million euros is planned . It is encouraging that a number of greenfield investments have been announced. With the investment announcements we are more than satisfied that at this pace we are on target to reach the Tourism Development Strategy, where by the end of 2020 seven billion euros in invested in the tourism sector," says Croatia's Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin.
The bulk of the money - 128 million euros , has been earmarked for Istrian tourism, including numerous investments such as " Valamar " and "Aquapark Istralandia ", which is worth 25 million euros. There is more investment in the Istria region this year than by four Dalmatian counties put together. 62 million euros will be invested in tourism in the Dubrovnik-Neretva county, and 9.8 million euro in the Split-Dalmatia county, half as much as last year.
